A West Yorkshire woman has won a day’s flower arranging tuition and a beginner’s floristry kit, thanks to a competition organised by the Flowers & Plants Association.

Jill Shaw from Hebden Bridge won the chance to learn floristry at the hands of an expert, Judith Blacklock, who runs her Flower School in Knightsbridge, after entering a competition on a new magazine-style website produced by a major consumer publishing house.

In return for donating the prize, the website offered Blacklock’s school free promotion during the competition, and a regular listing on the F&PA’s website.

In return for organising the competition, the website will be running a monthly feature on arranging flowers in a ‘fast, fun and fashionable’ way. The magazine sent a link promoting the new site, and the competition, to 65,000 email addresses in the UK.

“Whenever the F&PA gets involved with an opportunity like this one, it can also offer the chance for free promotion to its members,” said a statement.
