The Brazilian melon season is about to start with one of the largest grower-export groups, Agricola Famosa, due to start harvesting from its 6,000 hectares in the north-eastern states of Ceara and Rio Grande do Norte. “
Our first departure will be on 28 August,” said Cassiano Monte, spokesman for the company. “There will be Galia, Canteloupe, yellow and watermelons in the first shipment. All our plantings are to programme orders.”
Agricola Famosa is expecting a 30 per cent increase in volume this season across all varieties due mainly to increased orders from its customers.
