Richard Warburton Aquaplast

Richard Warburton

After more than 20 years of service to Ripple Aquaplast as a senior technical salesman, Richard Warburton has decided to hang up his calculator and retire.

Warburton, who joined the irrigation specialists in 1993, 'deserves an OBE' for his efforts at the firm, according to MD Wendy Penny.

Some of his clients during his time at the business have included New Farm Produce, Busby Partners, Lower Reule Farm, The Eden Project, Robinson’s Nursery, Chicory Crops, Bransford Webbs, Allensmore Nurseries, Gentech, Blackmoor Estate, H & H Dunclalfe, and Osberton Nurseries.

Penny said: 'Working with Richard has been a great pleasure, and all of us at Aquaplast are going to miss his friendly professionalism, attention to detail and loyalty to his customers. I do not think it too glib to say that Richard’s standards belong to a disappearing era where the customer always came first when any salesman worth his salt moved heaven and earth to make sure deadlines were met.'

Warburton qualified as an incorporated engineer in 1976, and has been a member of the Institution of Agricultual engineers until very recently.

He worked at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fish and Food from 1973 to 1984, with a short break of two years in the middle when he worked for GR. Beeby & Son. From 1985 to 1992, he worked for Ag-Power, with another short break of two years in the middle where he worked for Brian Bayley.

Warburton's last day of work at Ripple Aquaplast will be 24 July.
