A South African exporter is fighting back against a provisional liquidation order made against it in the Cape Town High Court.

Ukulima had an application brought against it by Mondi Packaging, which claims the exporter owes it R2.9 million (£255,868). While Mondi Packaging are the only company making a claim, reports indicated affidavits from other organisations were included in the court documents.

Liquidators KPMG said initial investigations had now begun, but it was aware the provisional order was being opposed with a return date of February 15.

However, Ukulima has vowed to hit back and launch a counter-claim against Mondi Packaging for R18m (£1.5m), linked to events from the past season, a spokesman said.
