Improving water productivity, yields and quality in UK agriculture and horticulture will be the focus of an event hosted by East Malling Research Association this February.

Topics to be discussed include the efficient use of water in agriculture and horticulture and how to improve short, medium and long-term productivity.

Also on the agenda will be how consistency of supply and product quality can be improved whilst optimising the use of natural resources in Britain and overseas.

The event will also examine water benchmarking, precision irrigation, deficit irrigation techniques and marker-assisted breeding of new lines with improved water use efficiency.

The event is being held by the East Malling Research Association, in conjunction with HDC and UKIA,at the East Malling Conference Centre on 1 February.
