Eurotunnel has been awarded two “Golden Trucks” (Camion d'Or) in recognition of its efforts to promote road safety among truck drivers using its cross-Channel shuttle service.
The double distinction for Eurotunnel follows a road safety campaign at its Calais/Coquelles terminal during the autumn of 2003. Several thousand truck-drivers of different nationalities were tested on their knowledge of European road safety regulations. Tests included statutory rest times, use of tachographs and the correct fitting of seat belts.
Eurotunnel was awarded the top awards in both the company and innovation categories by the French road safety organisation, Les Pros de la route, which promotes road safety awareness for truck and coach drivers.
