With its BigBox the Euro Pool System launched its new re-usable packaging for fruit and vegetables such as oranges, melons, potatoes and onions for the first time at Fruit Logistica.
"This 80 x 60 x 76 centimetre box is not only intended for packaging and transporting produce, it can also augment the display at the point of sale," explained sales manager Marian Polomski.
It can also be easily folded, thus saving space and costs when the empty containers are being stored or transported. "There is a 62 per cent reduction in volume," said Polomski.
Other advantages of BigBox: it weighs just 17.5kg, is robust, can be loaded with up to 259kg of produce and can be stacked together with Euro Pool System crates and other forms of transport packaging. Moreover, items packed in the BigBox can be removed from all four sides.
With smooth sides and a smooth base it is also extremely hygienic. And its drain holes ensure that no water can be retained inside the BigBox.
