Eurofins UK Contaminants laboratory at Wolverhampton has been recognised in the top 10 European laboratories following its rigorous testing schemes.

It came eighth out of 148 laboratories across Europe for its performance in the EU pesticide proficiency testing (EUPT) scheme. Eurofins Contaminants lab in Wolverhampton accurately identified all 21 analytes, giving a weighted score of 0.5 with a Category A classification of "good".

The overall objective of the EUPT is to improve the quality, accuracy and comparability of the results at participating laboratories.

Graeme Risdon, managing director of the UK Food Division, said: “We are very proud of our performance in this proficiency scheme as it confirms Eurofins’ position as a leading provider of quality and reliable results to the industry. It is important that the industry recognises the importance of these schemes and asks their contract laboratory for details of their performance.”

Eurofins UK is part of the leading international group of laboratories Eurofins Scientifics, with around $900 million (£600m) of annual sales and 8,000 employees across 150 sites in 29 countries.

The UK pesticides lab is supported by the group's Competence Centre, Eurofins Dr Specht Laboratories in Hamburg.
