Esther Gómez, director of the Murcian company Frutas Esther, has won the Female Entrepreneur of 2006 award from the Spanish Federation of Rural Women, Femur.
Gómez received her prize at a ceremony in Segovia last week.
Frutas Esther grows and exports stonefruit, grapes and strawberries, with a total production volume of 40,000 tonnes, mainly destined for export. The UK is a key market for the company, which supplies on an exclusivity basis through A Gomez.
