EPL Technologies has announced it has installed an eight-colour Schiavi press at its Lincolnshire plant.

The new press is computer-controlled, incorporates the latest gearless drive technology and also has a fast changeover facility for all eight plates, minimising downtime.

'The high quality results from the new press have been noticed by our clients and improved deadlines have already been achieved,' said a spokesman for the company.

In addition the company confirmed that the new high-speed laminator recently installed had further improved itsservice proposition.

The additional press is part of a two-phase £3million investment plan designed to increase EPL's eight-colour capacity and to enhance its service for their customers.

The second phase will see the introduction of the company's latest perforating development in micro-perforating technology at Gainsborough. This ensures that the one plant has a totally integrated manufacturing facility for its Respire range of breathable packaging film for fresh cut produce.

Tony Kendall, ceo of European operations added: 'We are very proud of our service proposition to our customers and it is essential that our growth does not outstrip our ability to supply. We have instigated this two phase investment plan to support our future growth plans.' He continued: 'The exciting developments in micro perforating maintain the high standards we have set ourselves as world leaders in perforating.'
