The teaching staff at Pollington Primary School, near Goole, made learning about healthy eating more exciting by giving pupils a special project to design a retail product using fruit, vegetables and salads.
The finished products were subsequently sold at the school’s Summer Fair on July 16.
English Village Salads, based in Selby and category suppliers of all of Asda's fresh whole salads, supplied the school with all the ingredients on behalf of Asda. The retailer also supported the event by sending educational packs to help the children learn more about healthy eating.
Kelly Colrein, marketing manager, EVS, said: Tthe school contacted us to ask if we could supply them with fresh salads. We thought that this was a great idea to increase children's awareness of healthy eating, something that Asda support on a national level with "The Big Healthy Eat campaign". We were delighted to help make the project a success and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience".
