African and the Middle Eastern producers will be introduced to the European market at Fruit Logistica 2007 by an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Netherlands that promotes imports from developing countries.

CBI will represent 21 companies from Mali, Senegal, Jordan, Egypt and Kenya at the Berlin-based fruit and vegetable trade show on February 8-10 to enable them to enter the European market or to consolidate their position.

All companies are EurepGAP-certified or in the process of obtaining certification.

Jos Leeter, an expert for CBI, said company management must be in prime condition “not only marketing-wise, but also in the logistics department”.

Leeter added: “It’s safe to say that these organisations have used the help we have provided to great effect.”

The mix of products presented by the CBI companies includes strawberries, pineapples, artichokes, avocadoes, dates, grapes, sugar snaps, sugar peas, okras, beans, melons, tomatoes and mangoes.

The CBI stand at Fruit Logistica will be located in hall 4.1, number D09.
