easyFairs UK Ltd has launched Ecopack, a brand new event that it says goes “right to the heart of the growing demand for environmentally responsible packaging solutions”.

Ecopack will be co-located with the well-established Packaging Innovations and Packtech shows, also run by easyfairs.

Back at the NEC next year, the three shows deliver an exhibition platform for exhibitors and visitors, showcasing everything from the latest packaging designs and trends to the machinery and equipment needed to deliver them, and spanning the entire role of packaging from brand enhancement tool to green agenda solution.

“easyFairs® ECOPACK is the right event at the right time and there has been an incredibly positive response from the market,” said packaging portfolio director Simon Twilley. “It is an opportunity for the industry to showcase how it is responding to the challenging demands being made by consumers, retailers and brands for packaging with a reduced environmental impact but the same design excellence and production efficiency.”

Almost three quarters of the visitors to the 2007 Packaging Innovations event said their organisations would be promoting their green credentials and environmental corporate social responsibility in their marketing in the coming 12 months. Some 50 per cent said they already had a budget for packaging-related environmental issues, while a further 18 per cent said they would be securing such funds in the near future.

With six months still to go, the show is already 75 per cent booked and sees some major new names coming onboard, including Seymour Powell, Sun Chemical, Benson Box and BASF. Many exhibitors are returning for a second and third year too, such as Field Packaging and Klocke UK, and for the first time there will be a British Contract Manufacturers and Packers Association (BCMPA) Pavilion for visitors looking for the latest in contract manufacturing and packing.
