S&G brand’s first International Open Day in Andijk, the Netherlands, last month, was a great success, according to Syngenta Seeds. The company received nearly 400 international visitors during the two-day event, and a second open day is already being planned for next year.
The company, along with Syngenta Crop Protection, hosted the open days at its 2.5-hectare trial fields and invited members of the industry to look behind the scenes of its new variety and well-known seeds from both its brassica assortment and salad products.
Amongst the 65 leafy salad varieties on display were the Ramones (ES5210), the Loire (EF5431) and the open-field butterhead Kayman (LS6699).
“The seed care group within Syngenta Crop Protection is working on new options for the protection of seeds and young plants with insecticides, fungicides and nematicides,” said Laurence Guillot of Syngenta. “The Cruiser programme [which protects crops early-season insect and disease control] has been demonstrated with salad products and explained through our main varieties. Visitors could see with their own eyes that the treatment fits with the S&G varieties.”
