Dutch logisitics giants DailyFresh have appointed a new sales director in the shape of Gert Noorderink.
In this position he will share responsiblity for the European expansion of DailyFresh. Noorderink was general sales manager for ESA Foods, where he was actively involved in veal sales to retailers and wholesalers throughout Europe.
Together with commercial director Hein Wolff, Gert Noorderink will shape DailyFresh’s future commercial policy. This logistics service provider has plans to spread its activities over a larger part of Europe and last month’s acquisition of haulier Int-Veen matches that strategy perfectly.
Wolff said: “By asking Gert Noorderink to join our team, we have acquired someone who will successfully embark upon the business development process. He contributes 21 years of sales experience in a different type of fresh products sector that is closely linked to ours. ESA is one of the largest sales organisations in their field in the Netherlands. Noorderink will come across the same clients with us as he did in his previous job.”
Commenting on Noorderink, and his own lack of experience in the industry, Wolff said: “That is a deliberate strategy. If we want to succeed on a European scale, we should no longer think like hauliers but start thinking like traders. A logistics service provider like DailyFresh should be able to understand its clients’ motives.
“To date, the commercial system of DailyFresh was mainly targeted at providing services, which is in line with our status as logistics service provider. But in this day and age and in view of our plans we will have to be more client-driven,” he said.
