Peter Durose, Tesco produce category director

Peter Durose

Ex-fresh produce category director for Tesco Peter Durose will cycle 565km over five days to raise money for youth charity projects.

Durose will take part in stage two of the third Dallaglio Cycle Slam, which totals 2,300km and also includes stages through the Italian Dolomites, Yorkshire Moors as well as the Swiss and French Alps.

He said: “I am delighted to say that I will join Lawrence (former England rugby international) and the Dallaglio Foundation for the third Dallaglio Cycle Slam 2014!”

“I will be taking part in Stage 2 and will be cycling 565 km over five days from St Moritz to Chamonix itself hard enough, however, during the course of the week we will effectively climb the height of Everest nearly one and a half times!!”

He said the causes supported by the charity are “close to his heart” and include Dallaglio Foundation Rugby Programme, a youth engagement programme to increase a young person’s sense of worth and employability.

The Cycle Slam will also support the Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of young people between the age of 13 and 24 who are diagnose with cancer.

Durose said: “As you may have noticed I'm not exactly built for riding a bike uphill all week so please help support these great causes by donating what you can.”
