A driver has been arrested after group of 15 migrant stowaways were found in a produce delivery lorry at New Spitalfields Market.
The migrants are believed to have been hiding in fruit pallets on a delivery from Spain, according to tweets from Waltham Borough officers.
Three people were arrested, including the driver, on suspicion of facilitating illegal entry to the UK, officers said.
A family of five were taken to hospital for treatment.
In a series of tweets, Waltham Forest borough officers said: “Following a call to New Spitalfields Market, E10, 15 people were found inside a lorry from Spain.
“Three more arrested inc the driver for facilitating illegal entry to the UK. Persons mainly from Iraq hid inside pallets of fruit.”
