Dow AgroSciences has urged growers to implement potato pesticide Fazor to cope with this season's wet weather.

The crop protection company has been trialling the pesticide since 2010 and reported shoot suppression between 83 to 95 per cent for all nine commercial potato varieties after a year's treatment.

Alex Nichols of Dow AgroSciences said its research proves that Fazor successfully delivers suppression of volunteers and in-store sprouting.

"The effectiveness of Fazor is clear for the potato industry to see and although the recent weather may affect application, on the whole, I don't think drought and high temperatures will be an issue for growers," said Nichols.
