He farms top fruit, sheep and arable in the UK and rubber in Brazil and is well known in both the scientific and horticultural communities. Doubleday replaces EMR inaugural chairman Hugh Lowe who ably steered the organisation through privatisation and the first two-and-a-half years of independence.
