Amcor Flexibles picked up two Gold and two Silver awards at the Flexible Packaging Association’s achievement awards.

The company was presented with the awards for its Amcor SelfVent steam-venting stand up pouch, Amcor FlexCan recloseable stand-up pack and Amcor EasyPack easy-open and recloseable pouch, at a dinner in Naples, Florida, earlier this month.

The microwaveable SelfVent pouch received two gold awards for technical innovation and packaging excellence.

Amcor’s group communications manager, Alison Hilyer-Jones said the pouch benefits both consumers and retailers.

The self-venting nature of the pack removes the need to pierce it before microwaving, and ensures that the product is cooked to perfection.

It also boasts excellent on-shelf presence with its stand-up format, antifog performance and graphics potential and the efficient sealing minimises product spoilage in store, she claimed.

Meanwhile, the Amcor FlexCan won a silver award for packaging excellence and the Amcor EasyPack earned the same for technical innovation.

Hilyer-Jones said: “Amcor EasyPack combines Amcor Flexibles’ knowledge of peelable sealants with the company’s experience in lap-seal technology.”

Amcor Flexibles is one of Europe’s leading flexible packaging businesses, recording annual sales of €1.5 billion and manufacturing operations in 18 countries across Europe and the US.
