Fifty-one of the delegates at the HRI/Adas/EMRA Soft Fruit Conference believe that there is no secure future for the soft-fruit industry.
Responding to a session on day one which debated the issue, all delegates were asked to take part in a vote. Some 147 of those present said the future for the sector is rosy, there were three undecided voters and an estimated 50 failed to cross any of the boxes.
Which all meant that according to event moderator Michael Rodd, the motion - that there is a secure future - was passed by a 48 per cent majority.
