A consultation has been launched by DEFRA over how to sustainably implement the new EU pesticide regulations into the UK agri-industry.
The UK national action plan follows the European Sustainable Use Directive 2009/128/EC, which came into force on 18 July and asks EU countries to come up with a plan for how to put the regulations into practice.
"Industry-led initiatives have been instrumental in ensuring that the UK is ahead of the game in implementing the requirements and will continue to encourage UK pesticide users to go beyond legal requirements, thus maintaining the UK's high standards of pesticide use," said Crop Protection Association policy director Dr Anne Buckenham.
The DEFRA consultation will run until 22 October.
