The Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC) has been issued an update from DEFRA PHSI regarding the latest problems with the PEACH system.

The statement reads: “As a result of problems with Defra IT systems, it is currently not possible to obtain Quarantine Release Certificates (QRC) from the PEACH system in order to clear plant health restricted consignments. Consequently, until further notice, plant health restricted consignments can be Customs cleared using phytosanitary certificates in place of the QRC.

“Documents should be faxed for clearance to the Customs Salford Hub on 0800‐496‐0699 or by email to: Northregionepuoperations@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk. I will let you know when the IT problems are resolved and QRCs will again be required for clearance.

“HMI Conformity Certificates are unaffected by these problems and can be obtained from the PEACH system in the normal way.”

If you have suffered difficulties as a result of this situation please email angie@freshproduce.org.uk with the details.

“It is important that we understand the impact of this system failure,” said the FPC.
