Professionals from around the globe are set to attend the Italian apple event

The apple sector will take centre stage at Interpoma 2010, the seventh edition of the Italian biennial international trade fair dedicated to the apple.

The event will be held at the Fiera Bolzano convention centre in Alto Adige, Italy on November 4-6, 2010.

The event attracts the industry’s foremost experts from the four corners of the globe to the northern Italian province, providing an opportunity for trade professionals to assess the health of the sector, compare notes and do business.

Interpoma aims to expand its international scope following the excellent results achieved during the 2008 edition, when overseas visitors accounted for 40 per cent of the 11,653 turnout and official delegations attended from Germany, the US, Israel, Japan and New Zealand.

The 2010 edition of Interpoma will see the involvement of trade associations from a number of countries, to provide a broader and more informed view of the world apple industry.

As in previous editions, Interpoma 2010 will host a number of conferences and meetings tackling the most compelling issues concerning apple cultivation and marketing, in the presence of the most authoritative international experts.

The agenda of the traditional conference “The Apple in the World” will include a meeting on apple cultivation, sales and marketing in Mediterranean countries, a congress focusing on pesticide residue and a session dealing with the industrial use of the apple as a raw material.

Another highlight of interest to prospective participants is a presentation by ISAFRUIT, the European Fruit Research Institutes Network, revealing the findings of a European study on apple production, storage and consumption conducted by leading research institutes, which will help to gauge the pulse of the world apple industry.
