Hollywood heart throb Jesse Metcalfe has been unveiled as the latest big name to promote Rooster potatoes.

Metcalfe is starring in the remake of Dallas, and previously worked alongside Marcia Cross - the first ‘face’ of Rooster potatoes - in Desperate Housewives. He will be fronting the brand’s autumn marketing campaign, with TV ads running between October and Christmas. The ads are directed by Hugh Johnson from Ridley Scott Associates.

“Using Hollywood to deliver our messages appeals to both the core fresh potato customers and younger consumers,” said Anne Rodgers, Albert Bartlett marketing executive.

Rooster is currently the second-best selling potato variety slot in UK retail with a 4.5 per cent share of category value. “51.9 per cent of our customers are repeat purchasers and brand value has climbed 9.9 per cent year on year to its present £46 million”, Rodgers continued, adding that the brand has achieved 28.6 per cent market penetration within UK households.

“When shoppers wheel their trollies and remember the ad, we hope the enjoyment and energy from it will inspire them to prepare and serve great meals to their own appreciative audiences.”
