DaddyBerry eyes the UK

A premium strawberry produced in Portugal is now set for export across Europe.

Daddyberry is one of the best-kept secrets in southern Portugal, according to its producer Bryan Machado Lda, but it has been growing in popularity.

Armando Machado, ceo, said: “It’s time to share the secret of the world’s best strawberries with business and food connoisseurs who will appreciate our vision of quality and responsible growing methods.”

The family-owned and operated business has been producing the DaddyBerry for more than 24 years.

The berries have an outstanding eating quality because of their unique growing environment in the Algarve, according to the firm, and because they are not picked until they are ready.

Machado added: “So much is mass-produced and manufactured these days that flavour and quality have almost disappeared. We have dedicated ourselves to growing strawberries the way nature intended, without compromising quality.

“We’re often asked: what is the secret that makes DaddyBerry taste so good? It might be because we feed them purified rain water, or perhaps all the attention they get at the nursery, but we’re quite certain that eliminating harmful chemicals and pesticides is what really lets the true flavour of our strawberries stand out.”
