Culverwell: better returns from wholesale than retail

New Spitalfields Market Authority was well-represented as always at Fruit Focus this week.

The east London market’s superintendent Michael Culverwell said that this year’s show appeared to be better attended and that the market’s stand received good interest from growers. “Several growers have indicated that they get a better price return from the wholesalers than supermarkets,” he said. “It has been well worth being here to show flag the alternative to supermarkets, and it gives us the opportunity to speak to growers and stay in touch with the sector.”
