There are less than six weeks to go before the Fresh2003 congress in Paris on October 1-3 and the conference programme is almost complete.

"The focus of Fresh2003 is on the one link in the supply chain that we probably know least about," explained Chris White of event organiser Eurofruit Magazine. "We feel it is time to take a closer look at key trends in consumer research, as well as at consumer-related marketing strategies at all levels of the business, from the producer through to the retail operator."

A wide range of speakers from all sectors of the business will be taking part at Fresh2003 in keynote presentations and open discussion sessions. Representatives of Edeka Germany, Coop Italia and Kesko Finland have agreed to talk about the experience and strategies of some of the leading retailers, and other supermarket representatives will be confirming their participation shortly. From the distribution sector, representatives from Fyffes, Pomona, Atlanta, Anecoop, LAVA, Apofruit, Del Monte, The Greenery and other leading producers and trading companies will participate in discussions on consumer-related issues including price, quality, food safety, convenience products, variety development, nutritional considerations, and many others.

All conference sessions will have simultaneous translation into English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

The event is organised by trade association Freshfel Europe and Eurofruit Magazine. The organisations have pooled their resources as organisers of the traditional Cimo and Eurofruit Congresses to present a single annual conference.

Fresh2003, the first such annual event, will be held at Le Méridien Etoile Hotel in Paris from October 1-3 2003.
