Dole’s Costa Rican division Standard Fruit Company has been recognised by the Costa Rican-American Chamber of Commerce for excellence In Labour relations.
The award was presented to Raúl Martinez, managing director of Standard Fruit Company de Costa Rica S.A recently by Vice President of the Republic of Costa Rica Luis Liberman.
It was given for Dole and Standard Fruit’s health and safety programs for employees and efforts to prevent workplace discrimination, ensure equal opportunities and promote diversity.
In particular, the vice president noted Dole and Standard Fruit’s efforts to improve the standard of living for employees and their families.
Martinez said: “This award encourages us to continue our efforts and commitment to corporate responsibility and employee relations. We know that our success is measured not only through our financial returns, but also through the well-being of our workers and the improvement of the standard of living in the communities.”
Dole, with 2010 net revenues of £4.41 billion, is the world’s largest producer and marketer of high-quality fresh fruit and fresh vegetables, and is the leading producer of organic bananas and producer and shipper of organic pineapples.
