The benefits of mapping out your supply chain were spelt out to delegates at the Re:fresh Conference.
Peter Whitehead, business manager with the Food Chain Centre, teamed up with Trevor Dear, commercial director at potato suppliers Greenvale to talk about the work they have been doing to improve efficiencies throughout the fresh produce supply chain.
Whitehead urged suppliers to get involved in the benchmarking and supply chain improvement programme the FCC is carrying out. “We’re still looking for new groups and different sectors to participate in the schemes.”
Dear presented a case study to demonstrate the business benefits of undertaking a masterclass session with FCC to review the costs and working practices of the company and create an attitude of continuous improvement.
