Headhunters have been called into foodservice giant Compass following the chairman’s promise to quit.
Sir Frances Mackay made the pledge after two profit warnings which have enraged the City.
Recruitment experts are now searching for a candidate to fill the void when Sir Frances steps down next February.
Compass was reported to have lost a quarter of its value in just one day last September after revealing a range of trading difficulties in its UK operations. A further blow was dealt in March with the company blaming falling profitability of contracts to the UK military in Iraq.
