Coca-Cola’s UK vice-president and general manager has been appointed president of IGD by its board of trustees.
Leendert den Hollander, who is currently vice-president of the grocery research and training charity, will succeed former Asda chief executive Andy Clarke from 1 January 2017.
Den Hollander said: “I’m delighted to have been elected to the presidency by IGD’s Board of Trustees. This organisation has a unique role in bringing together our industry from farm to fork and, with such important and high-impact charitable programmes, I look forward to continuing the excellent work that Joanne and the team have been delivering, with the support of Andy.”
Recent highlights of IGD’s work include the inception of a major new charitable initiative, IGD’s Healthy Eating programme and the nationwide roll-out of Feeding Britain’s Future’s (FBF) Schools Programme. Combined with the body’s Skills for Work Month, the schools initiative is set to reach more than 16,000 young people in 2016.
IGD chief executive Joanne Denney-Finch said: “I’m extremely pleased to welcome Leendert to the president’s role. He is very well known in the industry and has already demonstrated great commitment to IGD. I’m hugely looking forward to working with him even more closely and building on Andy Clarke’s legacy.”
Geraldine Huse, chairman of IGD’s board of trustees, added: “We are delighted to elect Leendert to the presidency. I would also like to thank Andy Clarke for bringing so much to the role over the last two years.”
