Dr Brian Clutterbuck, former head of agronomy at South Lincolnshire potato business QV Foods Ltd, is joining Perth-based Pseedco as retail seed sales manager.
Based in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, Clutterbuck’s appointment will strengthen the company’s Pseedco Direct presence in the country’s main growing area for ware potatoes. He will work alongside Shropshire-based Alan McCulloch.
As well as supporting Pseedco’s seed potato sales directly on farm, Clutterbuck will be responsible for technical support to customers in the east of England and ongoing development of Pseedco’s Date-Smart Bold chronologically manipulated seed, aimed at increased baker content in ware crops.
He will also assist Pseedco’s extensive variety development trials programme.
Pseedco chief executive Alistair Redpath said: “Brian’s appointment represents a significant step in Pseedco’s growth plans; few in the industry have his wealth of experience in dealing with best practice systems in ware production while also being part of an integrated seed potato supply chain. This experience will further strengthen our reputation for supplying the highest standards of quality of both our seed potatoes and our service.”
