‘Nature & More’ branded Dutch tomatoes are being given a promotional boost on the continent thanks to a range of advertising materials, including a video recording, aimed at organic retailers.

The climate-neutral, organic vine tomatoes receive a promotional card with the farmer’s photo printed on it and the German certification agency TüV’s Nature & More ‘Climate Neutral’ symbol. This symbol is also visible on small quantity flow packs, which are compostable.

The TüV Nature & More Climate Neutral symbol stands for reduction, disclosure of and compensation for greenhouse gas emissions related to the manufacturing, shipping, cooling and packaging of Nature & More products - specifically vine tomatoes.

Reaction from leading retailers in France, Sweden and Germany has been “enthusiastic”, according to Eosta, as they are all keen to be the first in Europe with an independently certified climate-neutral claim. The claim is based on a complete analysis of all greenhouse gases in the chain; emissions are compensated with climate rights obtained from organic agricultural practices.

Nature & More farmers receive the Climate Neutral label with TüV certification if they compensate for all their greenhouse gas emissions from production.

Eosta’s TüV-certified climate-neutral fruits and vegetables were first unveiled at Fruit Logistica in February. TüV Nord has been assigned by the United Nations as the first inspection organisation to conduct this type of emission analyses and to certify emission rights.

For this initiative, Eosta is partnering with its sister company Soil & More, which initiates projects all over the world to process biological waste into superior compost. The process is completed without methane emissions and other harmful greenhouse gases are also eliminated, such as nitrous oxide. Soil & More compost also increases the level of humus in the ground, which binds carbon from the atmosphere.
