Clifton Nurseries has opened up its grape crops for picking as it challenges its patrons to pick until the vines are empty.

The pick-your-own venture is free of charge, except a charitable donation, and gives each customer the opportunity to pick up to two bunches of the Black Hamburg grapes.

Outdoor Nursery manager Guy Pullen: “It is used for wine production in Eastern Europe and the USA, but eaten as a table grape in France. Ours are sweet enough to eat; we do not spray them and after a wash, the grapes should be quite tasty. There has been enough sunshine this summer to produce a really good crop and the recent cold spell will only help to sweeten the fruit that has flourished over the summer months.”

Donation boxes will be on counters beside the tills and donations will be given to a local school.
