More than 300 growers have dumped oranges at Aldi and Lidl in protest at the “totalitarian” attitude of the German retailers that are bringing “ruin” to Spanish citrus producers.
Cristóbal Aguado, president of growers’ association Ava-Asaja, said: “This is the last warning: If they do not pull their finger out... they will see us outside their doors with more robust action.” Some growers say they are getting less than half the cost of production.
