Christmas trees run short

A shortage of Christmas trees could see families crying into their figgy pudding, with prices set to boom.

A shortage of the non-drop Nordmann fir tree, popular in the UK, has left the Christmas Tree Growers’ Association predicting a six foot tree could set consumers back £45 this year.

Fewer than 200,000 trees are expected to arrive in the UK from Denmark and Norway, down significantly from an average of one million a year. Poor exchange rates and frost damage are to blame.
