Multinational fruit giant Chiquita has announced plans to develop a global sourcing strategy.
Germany’s Atlanta Group has agreed to a request from parent company Chiquita’s chief executive officer Fernando Aguirre and chief operations officer Bob Kistinger to release board director Robert Zerres to work in tandem with John Ordman to prepare a recommended route towards establishing a global sourcing strategy, before seeing an agreed proposal through to the implementation stage.
A statement said: “This task, which is very important for the whole Chiquita Group, and the fact that Robert Zerres has been charged to participate in this task in a decisive and formative way, show Chiquita’s wish to co-ordinate even more closely the potential of the whole group in the area of fresh select (fresh fruit business).”
At Atlanta, Peter Jung will assume responsibility for the agencies, KAM and PM divisions. The branch organisation will report to Kim Roether.
