Chiquita brought its new fruit snacks to Fruit Logistica. Marketing manager Michaela Schneider explained that they are so new that they have not yet been launched on the market.

They will first be tested in the near future by a number of trading partners. Upon the successful conclusion of this test phase large supplies could become available.

These healthy snacks consist of 100 per cent fruit pulp and are ideal for children, sportsmen and women, or in between meals in the office or at home. There is a choice of three varieties, apple-banana, Tropical Mix, including mango, guava and passion fruit, and a "junior" fruit snack specially for children, with a combination of apple, strawberry and banana flavours.

Schneider expects the trial phase to be completed by the summer. She also announced the expansion of the Chiquita range of fresh produce. Greater emphasis is being placed on "sweet pineapples" and on melons, although bananas will still be at the forefront of Chiquita's marketing efforts.
