China vice premier Wu Yi is to open the 25th World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) congress in Beijing, China, in September.

The event has attracted government support due to the its interest in ensuring the ongoing development of China’s agricultural wholesale markets.

Yi confirmed her attendance after congress hosts CAWA (the national association for Chinese wholesale markets), with the support of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, invited national leaders within the State Council of the People’s Republic of China to attend.

The three-day event, which will be based around the emerging strategic role of modern food markets in the global food supply chain, will start on September 3.
