A trip to China for two is the memorable prize on offer to the lucky winner of this year's National Fruit Show Bonanza Prize, thanks to Chavereys, the Kent based chartered accountants who boast strong links with horticultural sectors of the industry.

Open to fruit exhibitors who make at least three qualifying entries in their classes, the prize will include a tour round the major fruit growing region of Xi'an, and a visit to one of country's largest fresh fruit suppliers and distribution centres.

Martyn Crawley, senior partner of Chavereys said: 'This will be a valuable tour of China's ever-increasing apple industry with a national production of around 24 million tonnes a year, and will provide an insight into the management and growing techniques of major varieties like Fuji and Pink Lady.' The winners will also enjoy the tourist sights of the area, including the renowned 'Terracotta Warriors'.

Crawley added: 'With the pace of change the industry is experiencing, we recognise the future is far from clear for most involved. Our Bonanza Prize recognises the global market in which the industry is fighting for survival. We hope the prize will excite and encourage growers to attend and compete in the Show.'
