The Chilean Fresh Fruit Association (CFFA), overseas promotion agency ProChile, and Santiago-based export services provider Decofrut have just launched a market information service (SIM) website at www.sim-asoex.cl to provide vital updated operational and strategic information to exporters targeting European markets.

The news comes as CFFA announced it will be sponsoring the Chile Good Agricultural Practices Innovation Award at the Re:fresh conference and awards next month.

"While SIM’s initial focus is on the European market, the aim is to expand its scope in coming seasons to include the US and then the Asian markets," said CFFA president Ronald Bown. "Fifty-six export firms will be using the site this season, and many more as the site grows and develops.

"Exporting perishable Chilean fruit half-way round the world is never an easy business…But our SIM website helps make this impossible job a little bit easier."

The website includes weekly reports on prices, volumes and market developments on European markets; market analysis anticipating trends and developments; summaries of relevant news related to the EU market updated daily; exclusive, on-line consultations about volume and price developments; competitor profiles; customised market studies; currency exchange updates; FOC calculations; competition index; and a user forum for making observations and seeking answers to questions.

"The key to the website’s success," said Decofrut’s site manager Isabel Quiroz, "is the timeliness and quality of the information it provides."
