Chile’s farm minister Luis Mayol has unveiled a new grape variety developed by researchers in the country. Iniagrape-one is the result of the grape improvement programme developed by research institute Inia with the Biofrutales consortium and in full consultation with the Chilean industry with the aim of giving Chilean growers an advantage on the international market.
The fruit is a mid-season black seedless type. Iniagrape-one has been developed specifically to withstand post-harvest handling and to travel well to export markets and has been some 20 years in development.
