The Chilean fruit growers’ federation Fedefruta is holding its second Business Round Table at Santiago’s Hyatt Regency Hotel on October 6-7.

Last year’s event attracted 480 people to both days, including 40 international buyers from 16 different countries. They were able to meet and discuss business opportunities with 134 Chilean producers/exporters, who represented a total export offer of 38 million cartons and 35 varieties of fruit. Fedefruta calculated that each foreign participant made an average of 5.5 contacts during the event, which also offered excursions to producers facilities.

Luis Schmidt, president of Fedefruta, told the Journal: “Both producers and receivers were extremely happy with what was achieved at the first event last year, which illustrated that the vision we had when setting it up was right. The Round table is a vehicle to allow Chilean producers to become more involved in the route their fruit takes to market.”

This year’s event is organised by Fedefruta, with the support of the Chilean government, through its export promotions body ProChile.
