The event is being organised in Santiago by the Chilean fruit producers' federation Fedefruta and national export promotion authority ProChile and will give producers and receivers the chance to meet face to face.

Fedefruta general manager Juan Carlos Sepulveda explained that the event has come about due to international demand.

"There are a great number of importers all over the world who regularly contact us asking for details of Chilean fruit producers in a position to export," he said. "For a minimal investment of time and money, this event provides a huge opportunity for a lot of producers, exporters and importers to make really worthwhile contact."

Luis Schmidt, Fedefruta president said the event was "unprecedented" and also offers an opportunity to make important contacts for those growers seeking new markets.
