According to a report in Chilean weekly Revista del Campo, Chile has great potential in production of the variety. One company, JAL, with government industrial agency funding, has been studying the advantages of growing the product from seed rather than bulbs. The results are lower costs of production, reduced disease incidence and better quality end product.

Yellowy-gold Dutch hybrids, Ambition F1 and Matador F1, have performed well in production in the Region Metropolitana growing areas around Santiago The season runs between March and June giving good availability when Western European supplies are lighter.

Should production take off, Chileans see potential for the product in the US, France and the UK.
