Children regularly throw away the portions of fruit given to them in their lunch boxes, a new survey suggests.
The survey by Capri-Sun 100 % Juice said one third of children usually throw away several items from their lunchboxes, and half of those questioned said they chucked away fruit in particular.
The research also highlighted that mums packing lunches for their children are struggling with the dilemma to include items that are healthy or something that they know their child will eat.
Some 42 per cent of mothers said their priority was to include food they knew their child would eat or drink; despite the fact it may not be healthy.
A third of respondents also said they felt “under pressure” from other parents, teachers and the media when putting their child’s lunch together.
