Cherries left out in the cold

Cold weather in August has pushed back the start of the Chilean and Argentine cherry season by two weeks - however, the first seafreighted South American cherries are set to hit UK shores in mid to late December.

The Bing variety is currently on the market, with the Lapin and Sweetheart cultivars also expected to make an appearance during the season.

The season is expected to draw to a close in early March, trade sources told FPJ.
