Pallet and container company CHEP is to take its vow to protect the environment a step further, with the announcement that for every customer who signs up to receive electonic invoice documentation, the company will make a donation to the International Tree Foundation (ITF).

The company launched its electronic invoicing scheme in conjunction with the ITF in February, which was designed to eliminate paper invoices and reduce the impact on the environment.

Since the launch of the programme, almost 10,000 customers have signed up to the scheme, with €1 for every customer going to the ITF.

-Peter Mackie, CHEP’s senior vice president of customer service, said: “Protecting the environment is very important to us, and we are keen to work closely with customers to improve the efficiency of our processes and procedures for the benefit of the environment.”

Andrew Hawkins, chairman of the ITF added: “We are delighted to be part of CHEP’s campaign. As an organisation we don’t just want to plant trees, we want to plant trees where they are most needed, so that they benefit both the environment and local communities. We’re extremely pleased with the results of the campaign so far.”
