A chemical fire is causing problems at Immingham docks in northern Lincolnshire.

More than 50 fire fighters were tackling the blaze after two tonnes of sodium hydrosulphate escaped from a container at the dock’s Norfolk Line terminal and caught fire.

While the initial fire is now out, because the chemical ignites with exposure to air or moisture, the authorities fear there is a danger the blaze could re-ignite.

Humberside Fire officers said they were waiting for the Environment Agency to assist them.
